ATR-FTIR allows analysis of the molecular surface chemistry of a sample. The Ge plate analyzes the composition of the first ~500nm of the sample. No sample preparation is needed to use ATR-FTIR. Data collection is fast ~1min. The Ge crystal is 1.8 mm diameter. Trough accessory is included for analysis of liquids.
